The Wellmen bow out of the Nathaniel MG Cup after a 2-0 defeat at Newtown.

An evenly balanced first half saw the sides go in at the break all square at 0-0, with Graeme Williams and Steve Lewis both getting good chances for the Wellmen to break the deadlock but were unable to hit the back of the net.

The second half saw the home side take the lead on the hour mark through Ryan Sears before Town were denied a blatant penalty when Mark Winslade was brought down in the penalty area but the referee deemed the tackle to be fair and waved play on. Then, with around 10 minutes remaining, Newtown doubled their lead through Luke Boundford to seal the win.

It was a pleasing performance by the Wellmen who were unlucky to lose the tie, but all eyes now are focused on Saturday's Welsh Cup 1st round tie against Corwen at Halkyn Road.
