Holywell Town are pleased to announce the appointment of Darren Moss as Assistant Manager ahead of the new season.

“To get Mossy on board with us is absolutely fantastic work by the club."
- Gareth Sudlow - Manager

Manager Gareth Sudlow targeted Moss as a great addition to the current Management set up and the appointment will be a great asset to the Wellmen as we look forward to the new season.

Moss, who was Wales U21 international capped 6 times began his career at Chester City and made his debut for the club in November 1988 in a defeat against Brentford, and went on to play more than 60 times for the Cheshire Club. In June 2001, Moss signed for Shrewsbury Town and despite having a great season for the Salopians, his side were relegated out of the football league. Moss continued his great form for Shrewsbury and helped them gain promotion back into the Football league at the first time of asking, and a noteable moment for Moss was in the Conference Play Off semi final against Barnet, where he scored the winning penalty.
His form attracted a host of Football League clubs and in 2005, signed for Crewe Alexandra, where they paid £170,000 for his signature. He made his debut in a 4-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers. Towards the end of the 2006/07 season, rumours linked Moss with a move back to Shrewsbury and he finally signed back for his previous club in May 2007. Moss then signed for Morecambe in 2009 and left in October 2010.
Moss then moved to Welsh Premier League Club Bangor City before a switch to Nantwich Town. He then moved to Conwy United as player coach and played out his playing career with the Musslemen.

He then obtained his ‘B’ Licence then moved to Cefn Druids as Assistant Manager before working for Stoke City as a scout, a role he still does today along with his 1-1 coaching sessions.

Manager Gareth Sudlow was made up with Moss’ appointment and he added, “To get Mossy on board with us is absolutely fantastic work by the club. I’ve known Mossy for a number of years from playing for him when we were at Conwy and I know what he can offer. He is a brilliant coach and an infectious character which will help us even more going forward. You only have to look at his experiences of playing for Shrewsbury, Crewe, Chester and Morecambe to see the knowledge he possesses so him coming in and assisting myself and the team is a massive boost. He has worked with a number of the squad beforehand and so he will slot straight in. Since taking over the managerial role I have been looking to add an assistant to help Myself, Andy and Sweety out and once I found out Mossy was available we had to get him on board so I’m delighted now the Backroom of Staff is complete and we all can’t wait to get going in preseason.”

On behalf of the club, I would like to welcome Darren Moss to the Club and hope he will be an excellent and valuable addition to the management team.
