Both the 1st Team and the Reserves progress into next round of Cup Competitions with victories in today's matches.

Holywell Town faced Hay St Mary's at Halkyn Road this afternoon in the 1st round of the Welsh Cup and progressed into the next round after a 4-2 victory.

Sam Jones gave Town a dream start, shooting home on 4 minutes before Hay St Mary's equalised with a quarter of an hour played through Brendan Hackett. Sam Jones put Town ahead again midway through the first half scoring from the penalty spot before getting his hatrick with 71 minutes on the clock.

Hay St Mary's pulled one back from a retaken penalty on 79 minutes but any chance of getting another goal to take it to extra time was dashed with 90 on the clock as Phil Lloyd completed the scoring to ensure Town progressed into the next round.

The Reserves travelled to Lex Glyndwr in their League Cup game for the second time in a week and followed up last weeks win with a 5-0 drubbing of the Wrexham based side.

The goal scorers for Town were Connor Hughes, Ben Lewis, Jack Gibbons and a brace of goals for Nathan Hughes. It was a great performance by the Reserves who have now booked their place in the next round, and the victory also made it 2 out of 2 for John Gilbertson and Gareth Thomas!

Well played to both teams......
