The Wellmen welcomed Caernarfon Town to Halkyn Road and the game ended goalless.

The League favorites can however count themselves lucky to pick up a point after Town hit the post in the second half through Tom McElmeel, and Town were denied a penalty with 10 minutes remaining as new signing Steve Lewis seemed to be tripped just inside the area with 10 minutes to go but referee Andy Harms gave a free kick on the edge of the area. Caernarfon Town's Gareth Edwards was sent off for the foul after picking up his second yellow of the game.

It was a great game to start the season and Town can be pleased with the performance and result, and I'm sure the crowd of over 300 would have enjoyed the game between the two sides.

The Reserves picked up a great 4-0 win at Llangollen Reserves to open their league campaign for the season. Sion McHugh amongst the goalscorers for the Wellmen.

The Reserves are at home on Wednesday evening as they welcome FC Nomads Reserves to Halkyn Road. Kick Off 7.30pm.
