Town fall to defeat against the Musselmen

2 years ago, By Steve Roberts

Holywell Town fall to defeat in their first pre-season friendly to Huws Gray Cymru Alliance side Conwy Borough.

Played on a warm summer’s evening at Halkyn Road, Town’s fans got their first chance of seeing some of the new faces who have signed on this season. It was Holywell who came closest to scoring in the first half as Ashley Durham saw his header cleared off the line and the teams went in at the break with neither team able to break the deadlock.

The deadlock was broken midway through the second half as Town took the lead through Graeme Williams, who headed home a Wayne Edwards cross. Conwy fought back however and 3 goals in the final quarter saw them win 3-1.

Manager John Haseldin said after the game, “We take lots of positives from tonight’s first game of our preseason programme, and everyone got a good spell of minutes on the pitch and this will prepare them ahead of our next game at Ruthin next Tuesday
