The Wellmen pick up the points in local derby.

Played on a heavy pitch, Holywell Town were 2-1 winners over Denbigh Town.

After 2 pitch inspections, the referee gave the go ahead for the game and it was the Wellmen who drew first blood when Steve Lewis opened the scoring on 25 minutes.

The score remained the same until the 50th minute when Denbigh Town equalised through Mark Roberts. With both sides having chances, it was the Wellmen who got he next goal as Steve Thomas (pictured) fired home after good work by young Brady McGilloway who made his first start for the Wellmen after recently coming on as a second half sub.

The score remained 2-1 and the Wellmen picked up another 3 points to keep the pressure on the teams in the top 3.

Next up for the Wellmen is the long trip to Afan Lido in the Welsh Cup and Town will have benefited for that match getting today's game under their belts.

The Reserves match at Llay Welfare in the cup was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch and will be replayed at a later date.
