Holywell Town are pleased to announce that we have been successful in our application to be considered as a wildcard entry in this season’s Word Cup.

The Word Cup, also known as the Welsh League Cup, is regarded by many as the second most important domestic Cup Competition in Wales. It is open to all 12 Welsh Premier League teams, 6 teams from the Huws Gray Alliance and the Welsh League and 4 wildcard entries based on merit or achievements over the previous season.
With the Wellmen doing the treble last season, and our performances in the Welsh Cup Competition, we are pleased to be accepted into the competition as one of the Wild Card entries. Last year’s winners (TNS) and Runners up (Bala Town) will enter the competition in Round 2.
At the Welsh Premier League AGM held over the weekend, the draw was made for the first round and Holywell Town have been drawn to play fellow Cymru Alliance side Buckley Town, the date is yet to be confirmed.
The full draw, which is split into regions during the early stages of the competition, is as follows:

The North West Draw
Holyhead Town v Llandudno FC
Rhyl FC v Denbigh Town
Bangor City v Caernarfon Town

The North East Draw:
Cefn Druids v Airbus UK Broughton
Guilsfield v gap Connah's Quay
Holywell Town v Buckley Town

The South West Draw:
Aberystwyth Town v Goytre FC
Penybont FC v Haverfordwest County
Carmarthen Town v Briton Ferry

The South East Draw:
Cardiff Met v Ton Pentre
Ponypridd Town v Taffs Well

The Central Draw:
Penrhyncoch v Newtown

It is a great honour for the club to be selected to play in the competition, and is a great reward for everyone’s achievements and efforts last season.

More details will be announced shortly.
