Holywell Town are sad to announce that Steve Lewis is leaving the club and joining Bangor City.

The Beast will sign for the Welsh Premier side this week and will be available for the Citizens match this weekend against Newtown.

Lewis became an instant hit with the Holywell Town supporters, who took to the ex Rhyl and Caernarfon Town hitman, and he repaid them with 13 goals in 18 apperances.

Manager John Haseldin said, "I'm obviously sorry to see Steve Lewis leave the club , he is currently top scorer in the league and has had a big impact on our season so far.

We had an agreement at the time I signed him that if a Welsh Premier side came in for him in January then we wouldn't stand in his way and he would have been doing something right for us for him to attract the interest.

He came with a reputation and admitted I took a bit of a gamble bringing him in but he wasn't what I expected , he and I got on extremely well and he took no time fitting in with the rest of the squad.

Despite the rumours of him being at Holywell for money reasons were totally false and would regularly find himself out of pocket traveling over to play.

I think he surprised himself how much he enjoyed his football at Holywell , getting on well with myself , the players and the supporters he turned down four Cymru Alliance clubs in five months offering more than double than he was getting with us and that speaks volumes for the kind of lad he is.

Now with his first child on the way and Bangor’s offer to good financially to turn down he leaves us in a healthy league position and I'd like to wish the Beast all the best at his new club and the future. Hopefully we will see him back in a Holywell shirt again in the future.

Steve Lewis said, "I want to thank Johnny & Holywell Town for the last couple of months, I enjoyed my time here with already so good memories. Also the fans have supported me and the rest in numbers in all kind of conditions.

The people who are involved in this club are like nowhere else I've been and I've been about a bit!! They go above and beyond for the players.

I want to wish all the luck and success in the future and hopefully one day I will be back. It's a club on the up and long may it continue and I thank you for everything!"

The club are sad to see Lewis leave but I'm sure you will join us in wishing him well at his new club and hopefully we will one day see him wearing the red and white of Holywell Town once again.
