Second Half collapse see’s Wellmen fall to defeat at Bangor

The Wellmen fell to defeat at Bangor after a 5-2 scoreline see's the home side pick up the points.
On a cold night at Nantporth, the game started badly for the Wellmen as the home side took the lead with 3 minutes on the clock, after Robert Parry ran down the wing and his cross was met by Alex Darlington who headed home to give Bangor the lead. Things went from bad to worse a few minutes later as Bangor added a second, as Les Davies forces a great save out of Mike Platt, but the rebound fell to Darlington who grabbed his second of the game.
Town were back in it barely 2 minutes later. Good work by Aaron Pomeyie saw him pass the ball to Matty Harvey on the left, and his cross into the box missed everyone and nestled into the goal in the bottom corner to make it 2-1. Chances fell to both sides with Les Davies and Darlington going closest for the home side but unable to convert the chances, and Lewis and Pomeyie both firing wide of the target when chances fell their way. With a few minutes of the half remaining, Lewis went on a run and came in from the right and his close range effort was blocked by the Bangor defence, then a few minutes later, Mike Platt pulled off a great save to deny Bangor’s Parry from increasing their lead before the referee blew for half time.
The lasds came out for the second half, still very much in the game and again, chances fell to the home side but were unable to add to their tally, Darlington firing over when in a good position and then Platt again saved well from Parry’s effort when it looked like he was going to find the back of the net. Steve Lewis then had an effort fly over the bar. Yalany Baio then fies over before Ryan Jones comes on to replace Zebb Edwards. A few minutes later, Bangor get the important 4th goal, with Darlington again on the scoresheet to grab his hat trick after his downward header beats Platt into the corner of the net.
The Wellmen make a double substitution as Shaun Tuck replaces Josh Maldon and Josh Robertson comes on in place of Aaron Pomeyie. Barely 5 minutes had passed then Bangor add a 4th, Darlington again the goalscorer as he tapped home at the far post when a cross came in from the left. With 15 minutes remaining, it was 5-1 as Robbie Parry fired home from the edge of a box as the loose ball fell to him from a corner.
Town added a consolation goal with 4 minutes remaining, as a good move down the left saw Shaun Tuck drive forward, and his lay off was a bit behind Paul Williams, but Matty Harvey picked up the loose ball, and controlled before firing home from 30 yards over the keeper to make it 5-2. Bangor had a couple of chances to add to their tally but they failed to test Platt and the referee blew for full time to round off a disappointing night for the Wellmen.
