It was a good day for both Holywell Town and Holywell Town Reserves today as both teams picked up an important 3 points each!

The first team travelled to bottom placed Llanfairpwll and avoided any slip ups as we cruised to a 6-0 victory in blustery conditions.

Town took the lead in the 12th minute through Luke Tyson, and Tyson added a second with just under 30 minutes on the clock. Paul Williams grabbed a 3rd in the 37th minute and Town went in at the break 3 goals to the good.

The second half was only a couple of minutes old when Graham Boylan poked home a 4th before Tony Roebuck scored the goal of the game, and a candidate for goal of the season, on 68 minutes as he fired home from fully 40 yards with the keeper well beaten. Phil Lloyd completed the scoring in the 70th minute with a great goal as he fired home from distance into the bottom corner of the net.

The win see's Town increase their lead on 2nd place Llandudno Junction to 11 points, as Junction's game at Barmouth was called off due to a waterlogged pitch with both teams played 17 matches to date.

The Reserves welcomed 3rd placed Overton to Halkyn Road and recorded a great 5-1 victory.

First half goals by Ross Tate, Ashley Davies and a Nathan Williams penalty saw the Wellmen leading by 3 goals to 1 at the break. Further goals by Dan Sim and Connor Hughes gave Town the victory in what was an important game to win in our quest to win the league, especially as leaders Mold Alex Reserves beat Argoed United 10-2 to remain top of the league on goal difference, but they have played 2 more matches than ourselves.

Next week see's the First Team at Home against Trearddur Bay in the Mawddach Cup whilst the Reserves travel to Brickfield Rangers in the Reserves and Colts league.
