Holywell Town Reserves faced Castell AC this evening at Halkyn Road and ran out 2-0 winners.

It was a hard fought victory over a stubborn Castell Alun side, and our task wasn't helped as we lost key players through injury during the game but the lads kept battling away looking for the breakthrough.

The opening goal came in the 80th minute, Wayne Edwards set up Jack Pennington (pictured) and his piledriver from over 20 yards flew into the top corner with the keeper well beaten. 8 minutes later, the pair combined again with Pennington being brave with a diving header from Edwards' cross to secure the victory.

Tom Lewney had an excellent game and made some vital saves to keep the visitors at bay, and the three points tonight gives the Wellmen some breathing space from bottom placed Castell AC in the Reserves Division.

The Reserves travel to Corwen on Saturday, with kick off being 2.30pm.
