Reserves Crowned Reserve & Colts League Champions

Holywell Town Reserves were this evening crowned 2018/19 WNL Reserve & Colts League Champions.

The Reserves went into this evenings game against Coedpoeth United knowing that 3 points would clinch them the league. Played in front of a good crowd at Halkyn Road, the Reserves had a few chances early on but eventually took the lead in the 17th minute through Jake Cooke, who fired home after good work down the wing. Ten minutes later, the Reserves had doubled their lead through captain Wayne Edwards, who fired home from 35 yards into the top corner giving the keeper no chance.

An own goal by the Coedpoeth defender after good work by Nathan Williams gave Town a 3 nil lead at the half time whistle. A couple of minutes into the second half, Town kill the game off with the 4th goal, Josh Robertson scoring from outside the area, then a couple of minutes later, it was 5-0 as Wayne Edwards grabbed his second of the game, firing low past the keeper.

IN the 75th minute, Town increased their lead through Ryan Jones, then Jay Wilkes rounded off Town's scoring with a 7th in the final 10 minutes. The visitors scored a consolation goal on the stroke of full time, but as the referee blew his whistle, Town had picked up the 3 points needed to clinch the title and the celebrations began on the pitch.

The lads picked up their medals and captain Wayne Edwards was presented with the league trophy amid scenes of celebration, and the lads fully deserved their round of applause by the god crowd cheering from the stand.

Josh Robertson, who grabbed Town's 4th goal of the evening later said, "Absolutely unreal from everybody at Holywell Town tonight, shows how hard work and determination pays off every time. Yong squad with a winning attitude - up the Wellmen!
