First team fall to defeat at Cefn Druids but Reserves win at Halkyn Road.

Today's matches saw the 1st team travel to Cefn Druids whilst the Reserves welcomed Cefn Druids Reserves to Halkyn Road for the double header match.

The first team looked to take last week's excellent performance against Caernarfon Town into the game but found themselves a goal behind after 5 minutes as Mike Pritchard fired home from the edge of the box to give Mike Platt no chance.

The hosts doubled their lead on 17 minutes through Dan Forbes, as his looping curling effort found the top corner to give the hosts a 2 goal cushion. Druids had a couple more efforts before the break to increase their lead but Town were thankful to Platt for keeping the score down.

The second half saw Paul D Williams come on for Brett Cotton, and he moved to midfield with Tony Roebuck dropping back and Williams took control of the ball in midfield and this seemed to inspire Town on.

The Wellmen took the game to Druids and looked the most likely to score. Graeme Williams narrowly fired over before a great cross in by Steve Lewis found the head of Paul D Williams and he headed home to put the Wellmen back into the game. Town pressed for an equaliser but the closest they came was when Tom McElmeel had a great header tipped over by Cefn Druids' Adam McGee in goal for the hosts.

The Referee blew for full time and despite feeling unlucky that we didn't get anything our of the game during the second half at least, we can pick out a lot of positives from the game and take them into next weekend's match at Conwy United.

The Reserves welcomed Cefn Druids Reserves to Halkyn Road in the Welsh National Reserve League. The Wellmen took the lead early in the first half through Jay Wilkes before the visitors equalised.

Josh Maldon added a second for the Wellmen and they held on to the 1 goal lead to move the Reserves to the top 4 of the Reserve Premier League.
