Matty joined the club 5 seasons ago and has been a great servant to the club. The fans took to Matty for his 100% effort he put in every game he played in for the Wellmen and will be missed by all. Matty picked up a lot of honours during his time with the club including Welsh Alliance League winners medal, FAW Trophy winners medal, Mawddach Cup Winners Medal, Cookson Cup Winners medal, and was a part of the successful cup runs in the Welsh Cup over the past few seasons. Matty was also recognised in last year's Club Presentation Night as he picked up an 'Outstanding Contribution Award' for being a loyal servant to the club.

Matty said, "Now it has been officially announced, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone at Holywell Town Football Club for the past 5 seasons.

When 'Sir' Mike Thomas, Cheggers and Johnny H wanted me to sign, I never thought we'd go on such a journey. The friendships, memories, laughs and bus journeys will stay with me for the rest of my life.

Being able to say I played a small part in helping this club get back on the road to where it belongs is my biggest achievement in football to date.

Finally, thank you to all the fans that came and supported us along the way and made me one of your own! I will never forget it. I look forward to seeing you all on Friday night for a beer after the game."

Manager John Haseldin added, "Wishing you all the best for the future from everyone at the club. Thank you for your efforts over the last 5 years, you played a major role in our success over the years and you leave with our best wishes and a full set of medals."

Matty won't have to wait too long to return to Halkyn Road as his new Buckley side face the Wellmen this Friday evening, and I'm sure Matty will receive a great reception off the Halkyn Road faithful.
