Holywell Town continue their pre-season programme this afternoon with a match against Winsford United.

The Wellmen will be looking to build on the excellent 6-1 victory on Tuesday night against Brickfield Rangers, and to put in a great performance for the home supporters.

John Haseldin will once again field a strong side in preparation for the forthcoming season, and Jamie McDaid, who has recently put pen to paper at the club for the new season, will once again be looking to be amongst the goals. Unfortunately, defender Jon Jones is unavailable so won't be facing the club we signed him from a few season's ago.

Winsford United Football Club are a semi-professional football club based in Winsford, Cheshire that has enjoyed a long proud history as full members of The Football Association. The club was founded in 1883 and are nicknamed The Blues. The club is currently a member of the North West Counties League Premier Division, with home matches played at Barton Stadium. Last Season saw Winsford United finish in 13th position in the NWCFL Premier Division, with 52 points from 42 matches.

The blues are in the same division as AFC Liverpool, who we have already faced a few weeks ago when we ran out 3-2 winners, so we know what to expect this afternoon and that it will be another tough game for the lads with the new season looming ever nearer.

Assistant Manager Chris Boulton said, "The squad is as strong as I have known it since I arrived at the club, and we have signed very strong players down the middle, with Pearson, Desormeaux and Steve Lewis upfront. It was a great performance against Brickfield on Tuesday and hopefully we can build on that victory this Saturday.

The match kicks off at 3.30pm at Halkyn Road and hopefully we will see another god turnout of supporters cheering the lads on. Once again, reduced admission on the gate with adults £3, Concessions £2 and accompanied children under 16 are free.

The Reserves travel to Llansannan in their preparation for the new season, and Eddie Barry will have a couple of trialist playing for him who will be looking to put pen to paper after the match. The Reserves match kicks off at 2,00pm.
