Holywell Town v Tranmere Rovers - Match Preview

11 months ago By Steve Roberts

The Wellmen welcome a Tranmere Rovers X1 to Halkyn Road on Tuesday for their penultimate pre-season friendly of the season.

““I’m looking forward to the game and this will be a different test to the matches we have played so far"” John Haseldin - Manager

The Wellmen go into the match looking to continue their excellent pre-season form, and confidence will be high after Saturday’s 5-3 victory over Winsford United.

Goals from Steve Lewis and a brace of goals each for Shaun Tuck and Jamie McDaid saw the Wellmen grind out the victory on Saturday and the three will once again be looking to be on the scoresheet on Tuesday evening. The new players are settling in well with their new teammates and that was evident on Saturday as the lads gel ready for the new season.

John Haseldin has a near full strength side to choose from and will welcome back Jon Jones and Sam Jones who both missed Saturday’s victory. Matthew Kendrick is unavailable due to a knee injury and sits out to help him recover in time for the new season, and Danny Desormeaux and Gareth Sudlow are away on holiday.

Manager John Haseldin added, “I’m looking forward to the game and this will be a different test to the matches we have played so far. Saturday was good in patches, but we will need to keep the ball and defend better as a team on Tuesday night.

I would like to thank Lee Jones for bringing his side down to Halkyn Road and hope everyone enjoys the game.”

Both sides met each other pre-season 12 months ago, with the Wellmen coming out on top, winning by a goal to nil. Hopefully, we will be treated to the same result on Tuesday night!

The match kicks off at 7.30pm and hopefully there will be a good turnout of both supporters at the game. For any Tranmere Rovers fans coming over to Halkyn Road from the Wirral, our postcode is CH8 7TZ.
