Holywell Town defeated local rivals Denbigh Town by 2 goals to 1 on a warm and humid evening at Halkyn Road.

THe game was only 10 minutes old when the Wellmen took the lead, Lee Healey firing past Rhys Crowther in the Denbigh Town goal.

The Wellmen created a host of chances in a great first half performance, and Denbigh could not have argued if the score was 3-0 at the break with Healey. Paul Williams and Sam Jones all going close for the home side.

With the score at the interval only 1-0, The Wellmen knew they had to get the decisive killer 2nd goal, and that goal came on 75 minutes courtesy of Lee Healey from the penalty spot after Sam Jones had been brought down.

Denbigh Town did pull one back in the 85th minute through Corey Scarisbrick to set up a nerve last few minutes for the Wellmen, but we held out for the 3 points much to the delight of the Wellmen supporters who cheered the lads off the pitch.

Next up for the Wellmen is a trip to Porthmadog on Saturday, where the lads will be looking to make it 3 wins in a week! See you there.....
