The Wellmen were beaten 2-0 by Cefn Druids in tonight's NEWFA Challenge Cup Final.

Cefn Druids started strongly and dominated play during the early exchanges, and took the lead shortly after 20 minutes when Naim Arsan's shot took a wicked deflection over Town keeper Mike Platt.
The Wellmen got back into it and had a couple of chances during the remainder of the first half, Ryan Davidson going the closest for Town.

The second half saw the Wellmen start where they left off, and put pressure on the Druids defence, with Ryan Davidson's shot hitting the post and Connor Littler saw his effort come back out off the crossbar. Town still looked the stronger side but couldn't grab a deserved equaliser.

With the 90 minutes nearly up, Druids won a free kick on the edge of the area, and Ryan Kershaw's free kick was brilliantly pushed onto the bar by Platt, but the ball unfortunately rebounded and hit Platt's back and dropped into the net. This was cruel on the Wellmen and shortly afterwards, the referee blew the full time whistle.

It was a great performance by the Wellmen, especially the second half and the scoreline didn't reflect the game. The club would like to also thank the large turnout of supporters who made the trip to The Hollingsworth Group Stadium in Broughton , and it was good to see that the majority of the good crowd were cheering the Wellmen on.

The Club would also like to congratulate Cefn Druids on their victory this evening, and wish them luck in the Welsh Premier League next season.
