Halkyn Road has been chosen as the venue for the Wales U15’s game against Manchester United RTC Girls side.

"It is great to be hosting such a prestigious fixture at Holywell Town FC. Girls football is growing at a rapid rate and you will see on the night just how high the standard is.

The match will be played on Monday 18th February with a 7.00pm kick off with free entry to all.

It’s a massive boost for the club to be asked to host this match and is sure to draw in supporters from all of North Wales and the North West, and we are also hoping for a good number of our supporters through the turnstiles to cheer the Welsh Girls team on against Manchester United.

The match could also include Leah Davies – Williams, who we have seen on a number of occasions at Halkyn Road cheering on her Dad Graeme Williams who played for the first team over the past few years. Leah has represented Wales at U15 level so hopefully will be included in the squad.

North Wales Girls Performance Centre Director Steve Noel Thomas added, "It is great to be hosting such a prestigious fixture at Holywell Town FC. Girls football is growing at a rapid rate and you will see on the night just how high the standard is. Hopefully some of the girls on show will progress through the player pathway and go on to represent Wales at senior level at some stage. Given that its free entry for all, hopefully that will entice a big crowd in and create a good atmosphere inside Halkyn Road".

We have all seen how Jayne Ludlow’s senior ladies side has made a big impact on girls / ladies football in Wales, and players such as Jess Fishlock, Laura O’Sullivan, Natasha Harding and Kayleigh Green have now become household names so please make every effort to come down to Halkyn Road to cheer on the next generation of stars.

It promises to be a great night so hopefully see you there.
