It is a great accolade for Thomas to pick up the award which is sponsored by Wrexham Brickwork Ltd.

Wellmen Captain Thomas picked up the award for receiving the most man of the match awards from opponents during the season.

Speaking after the announcement, Thomas said, "I'm delighted to win the league player of the year award in such a strong league with lots of fantastic players. I appreciate the recognition from the other teams and appreciate all the support I've had from not only our players and supporters, but those from other clubs also, who have said lots of great things to me yesterday and today.

It's great to receive recognition for the hard work I've put in but I obviously couldn't do it without the great club I play for and the fantastic group that we have including the coaching team, all the players and of course all the supporters and committee members."

Manager John Haseldin added, "Steve's a great lad and a great player, he plays and trains hard and is a great example to others. It's a well deserved award and I'm sure there's more to come from him.

Coach Andy Lewis said, "Great to see Steve's hard work recognised, Steve's a player who performs consistently at the top of his game with a superb attitude."

Great news Steve and on behalf of everyone at the club many congratulations to you.
